Please Go to Sleep
Four-year-olds can be an absolute joy in the life of their parent. On the other side they can be a serious pain in the backside.
I have been fighting off a cold for the last three or four days and all I have wanted to do is sleep. But my daughter will not go to sleep when she is supposed to. They have been letting her take naps at her preschool and that has set me up for nights that are really a pain. When she has a nap during the day she doesn't get tired until almost ten...sometimes later.
So as I have been dragging myself into bed for the last couple of nights, I have been battling to get her into bed as well. Last night I just wanted to sit on the edge of my bed and cry. I had taken some of that "so you can sleep" medicine and felt like I could drop at any moment...but no, my beautiful vivacious daughter began to bounce on my bed, because, to quote her, "nope, I am not tired."
Ah the wonders of mommy hood...I wouldn't trade them for anything...but sometimes I would just like to be able to go to sleep when I want to.
